CURB APPEAL … CREATE IT YOURSELF!!
A first impression, in people or real estate, is made in the first 30 seconds. In Real Estate, we call it CURB APPEAL. It sets the whole atmosphere for viewing your home with a positive attitude. If that first impression is a positive one, potential buyers tend to view the whole experience with a positive attitude, unless the inside is not well maintained.
Here are some things you can do to make YOUR home have great Curb Appeal!
- Show off green thumb: Plant Flowers! Even here in the desert, there are flowering plants!
- Manicure your yard, edge & trim it neatly.
- Put a pretty WREATH on the front door to make a great impression.
- Buy a colorful DOOR MAT to make people feel welcome!
In addition to the front of your home, be sure to pay attention to the other exterior areas, just like you do inside!
- Pool … keep it free of leaves & debris; keep it sparkling clean and inviting
- Unkept, algae filled pools are very unappealing to buyers
- If you have a waterfall, be sure to turn it on when a buyer is coming … the appearance is beautiful and sound is relaxing.
- Deck/Patio: keep it tidy and the plants trimmed.
- Be sure Self-closing pool gate closes securely.
- Garage … though it often is used to store unused things while the home is on the market, keep it tidy and swept
- Organize the workbench
- Built in cabinets … they are a great asset in a home; that’s the first thing a buyer looks for in the garage
